One of the greatest cavalry officers of American history, Stuart was promoted to General shortly after the Battle of First Manassas where he demonstrated exceptional gallantry and performed brilliantly in battle. He led, arguably, the most famous raid of the war against McClellan during the Seven Days Battles in defense of Richmond, riding completely around the Union forces (who were in part led by his father-in-law). He was present with Jackson at Chancellorsville and took command of 2nd Corps upon Jackson’s wounding. Stuart died from wounds received at the Battle of Yellow Tavern May 11, 1864.
This beautiful piece is framed in a cherry stained solid wood shadowbox, 12 by 10 inches and 2 and 1/8 inches deep, with a glass face - all made in the USA. It includes the relics as described above. The depth of the box adds a beautiful effect to the piece. Annotations are on the back of the frame and each has been individually signed by AMHSoc, denoting its origin as the limited edition piece that it is. Images are available in gray tones and Sepia.
