Beauregard commanded Confederate forces during the beginning of hostilities at Fort Sumter and was second in command at the battle of First Manassas. Many historians believe that it was his actions in May of 1864 that prevented the fall of Richmond at that time. Before Lee could be alerted to the Union thrust south, his bold and decisive moves anticipated Grant’s intention and frustrated the Union’s attempt to take Richmond. He went on to serve valiantly in the Western Theater under General Joe Johnston.
This beautiful piece is framed in a cherry stained solid wood shadowbox, 12 by 10 inches and 2 and 1/8 inches deep, with a glass face - all made in the USA. It includes the relics as described above.
